As a scientist in Probe Creation you will contribute your experience
to a team developing diagnostic tests based on focused next generation
sequencing. You are looking for an opportunity to impact the future

About the Job:
Eureka Genomics has developed a new technology that uses Next
Generation Sequencing to quickly and cost-effectively generate
genotype data. This technology is being used in specific
applications ranging from drug resistant tuberculosis, to ADME, to
oncology, to bovine respiratory viruses. These projects need a data
scientist to (1) distill the information on known nucleic acid
biomarkers into genetic sequences and apply known probe/primer
design software to create the in silico probe sequences for the
research team to test and (2) prepare product description documents
rationalizing the biomarker selection in the tests for the product
development and sales/marketing teams to use in product
specifications. Eureka Genomics anticipates developing tests for
20+ indications. The successful applicant will be responsible for
the upfront content, the in silico probe/primer design and the back
end description of the known biomarkers included in each test.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to quickly
Utilize internal and external probe/primer design softwares for
the in silico creation of relevant sequences for commercially
viable diagnostic kits/panels or services.
- Balance technical desires with practical constraints
- Ensure that content corresponds to market need
- Source biological samples, as needed
Assist in the creation of product message and marketing/sales
- Participate in new product launches
- May act as a technical advisor for specific products
Stay current on competitor activities, new opportunities, market
threats, define differentiators
Develop and drive internal initiatives to better address the
genotyping needs of the market.
Be highly committed, compatible with both research and product
development and deliver results in a fast paced environment.
- Occasional travel (once/quarter).
- Perform other duties as assigned
MAF, Allele A, breakpoints, hybridization, multiplex,
amplification and CNV are commonly used in your conversations
MS or PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics or
- Experience in technical writing (reports, publications, etc.)
Excellent understanding of genotyping assays and established or
emerging molecular biology methods for nucleic acid analysis
(hybridization, labeling, bDNA, PCR, etc)
Experience in understanding and interpreting variations in
sequence data extracted from literature and from the public in
silico genome databases
Experience with Primer3 and dbSNP and at least three of
Primaclade, GeneFisher2, MuPlex, OligoWiz2.0, IDT OligoAnalyzer
3.0, RTPrimer DB, etc.
- Excellent literature search and summarizing skills
- Must be detailed oriented, innovative and highly motivated.
- Ability to accommodate client timelines
- Ability to organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time
- Ability to quickly absorb new and complex information
- Basic knowledge of next generation sequencing technologies
- Basic experience with product commercialization
- Experience in or an interest in marketing should be highlighted
