Didier Perez is responsible for the day-to-day management, new business opportunities and finances of Eureka Genomics. Formerly, Didier Perez was the COO and CFO of Investigen Inc. Prior to that, he served as Managing Partner of Inovation Ventures LLC, and CFO of MagnetPoint. Other experience includes Managing Director at Plantagenet Capital Management, an investment-banking firm specialized in turnaround and M&A, financial consultant with Merrill Lynch International, and Director of sales and marketing for Gimeor CAD software. Mr. Perez has over thirty years of experience managing startups and small businesses.
Dr. Heather Koshinsky, microbial geneticist, is responsible for the sequencing facilities as well as the testing and development of all scientific applications. She is also a co-founder and CEO of Investigen, a molecular diagnostics company. Prior to founding Investigen, Inc., she supervised microbiological/molecular biological research projects involving yeast and bacterial genetics and food safety at the USDA/University of California, Berkeley, Plant Gene Expression Center and as an assistant professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Koshinsky obtained a B.Sc. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Applied Microbiology from University of Saskatchewan, and a Certificate of Business Administration from University of California, Berkeley Extension.
Dr. Fofanov is the inventor of Eureka Genomics’ shotgun metagenomics technology. He is Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Sealy Center for Structural Biology & Molecular Biophysics at University of Texas Medical Branch, focused in the research areas of Bioinformatics, Applied Statistics, Mathematical Modeling and Information Theory. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor Department of Biology and Biochemistry, Rice University, Houston TX, Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Health Informatics, School of Health Information Science, University of Texas, Houston, TX, and faculty member of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, Houston, TX. Yuriy Fofanov received his M.S. in Physics in 1977 and his Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics in 1988 from Kuibyshev (Samara) State University, USSR.
Dr. Fofanov provides consulting services for the bioinformatics and statistical research and development of Eureka Genomics clinical assays. His past research has been focused on the applications of High Throughput Sequencing technology to discovery of unknown pathogen, the analysis of the host-pathogen interactions and the detection of genomic variation. Dr. Fofanov received a Ph.D. in Statistics from Rice University.
